C’est le Mardi Gras chez moi

--

Hey Reader,

Today, the 16th of February 2021, is celebrated as Mardi Gras also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday around the world!

It is one day before Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent — a 40 day period of sacrifice and prayer in Christianity before terminating on Easter a joyous day of rejoice for all!

Today, we will discuss five things we can do from home to celebrate Mardi Gras and immerse ourselves into this cultural extravaganza!

  1. Get cooking with crepes!

It is called Pancake Tuesday because the usual tradition is to cook and make Pancakes and have a feast before the 40 days commencing tomorrow! So get your ingredients ready and whip and flip them into a crepe! Here is a video made by French Natives : Claire and Aurelie on how to make those crepes!

2.Get creative by making a mask!

Mask-making is always a good idea and the Mardi Gras parade held at Louisiana USA will give you an idea of exactly what you should look for as inspiration! Here is an idea that can greatly help you!

3. Watch the mardi gras parade!

This year it is converted to ‘YARDI GRAS’ and instead of having moving floats, the houses in New Orleans have been transformed into house-floats so that the spectators can walk by and still be a part of the party!

4. Set your intention for the next 40 days!

Lent is a time of prayer and healing and drawing closer to God! Decide on what you are going to give up for 40 days as a sacrifice and strengthen your faith!

5. Party alot!

It’s so so important to party and celebrate life everyday! If you don’t already do that — use Mardi Gras as an excuse! Have all the fun food that you truly enjoy dedicate this day to yourself and celebrate with your friends!

and a BONUS tip!

6.Read up on the History

If you’re a history buff we would definitely recommend you to read up on the history of Mardi Gras and how it came into being!

Hope you have a total blast today and make the post out of Mardi Gras!
